Dictionary says that hobby is an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.
I'd like to emphasize this pleasure aspect of hobby and distinguish it from career.
It is true that both reflect one's interests.
Some people expect mutually related activities with their work will give some extra points on their professional.
This approach ruins the original meaning of hobby.
Then we can no longer call it hobby but extended work.
It should be unchanged that enjoyment is very top purpose of hobby.
It is recommended to put on a act for medical school student who wishes to become a psychiatrist as long as he finds it is fascinating to play on the stage first rather than it might be helpful for a psychiatrist.
Hobby for career improvement also prevents escape from works.
It is not stupid to do unrelated activities just for fun.
Although those activities might be seen random to them, I'm positive to do things fully reflecting one's enjoyment:
Basketball, playing musical instruments, ballet, shoes designing, singing and whatever done with great pleasure.
Everyone agrees with that short period time-off from work boosts up efficiency.
In order to have this principle work properly, we should forget work when we are not doing it.
Do not recall unfinished tasks in relaxing time.
Ceaseless working only brings emptiness on our lives.
I have a broad range of interests so it is very hard to pick one of them as a job.
Finally, I chose what I'm outstanding on and kept others as hobby.
(Actually, I am and will be a STUDENT for next 4 years without any job... anyways)
Clearly, happiest situation is doing the most enjoyable as a job.
